Fabric Flora Residential
Fabric flora addresses the challenge of seamlessly integrating the backyard space with the living space, while
enhancing the connection between the house itself and the fabric community. The clients, two florists working
from home with two children, need a family greenhouse for floral art and a community-friendly space
for hosting floral workshops.

from home with two children, need a family greenhouse for floral art and a community-friendly space

While meeting customer needs, it activates the currently idle Hazel Street and brings new vitality to the fabric community. The greenhouse rotating door are used as the frames to connect two townhouse backyard spaces.
The solution includes the integration of living and greenhouse spaces through material and visual continuity. This design not only expands the traditional concept of a greenhouse to encompass the entire home but also uses consistent materials indoors and out to create a seamless living environment.
Furthermore, I intend to utilize the
greenhouse to activate Hazel Street, linking the "Fabric Flora" house
directly
with the broader Fabric community. By designing the greenhouse with rotating doors and modular pine planting boxes,
we facilitate not just personal use but community engagement. These boxes are not only functional for planting
but also portable, enabling their use in community events such as street floral exhibitions and communal dining
experiences. This approach enhances the livability and social connectivity of the area as well as activating Hazel
Street, bringing vibrancy and a sense of community to the neighbourhood.

In this way, connected Living can be achieved by balanced boundaries, where the design can accommodate people to live
harmoniously within the house, between neighbours, and across the site; creating a sense of belonging among residents.
